PALO ALTO, California - SeeingColdplaylive is pretty much the polar opposite of taking in a spontaneous jam band concert. And that's not a bad thing. The group'sMusic of the Spheres World Tourcontinues to deliver a tightly choreographed and dreamy production that has been touring the globe for three years. The show the British band put on May 31 at Stanford Stadium, which kicks offa final leg of a planetary peregrinationthat ends this fall in London, was good fun polished to a delirious sheen. FrontmanChris Martinand his longtime mates – guitarist Jonny Buckland, bass player Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion – unveiled a two-hour-plus medley of hits woven into a technological tapestry that included light-up bracelets, 3-D glasses and endless fireworks and confetti. Call it a sing-a-long for the ages. The multi-part shows that make up the Music Of The Spheres World Tour finds the band digging deep into its many albums but with an emphasis on "Music Of The Spheres" (2021) and "Moon Music" (2024). The tour, which has already crossed the $1 billion sales mark, kicked off back in 2022. Coldplay will reprise their Stanford gig June 1, before moving to Las Vegas for two shows, and then on to Colorado, Texas, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Florida. They'll hit Toronto and Hull, England before wrapping this mega-tour with 10 dates at London's Wembley Stadium. The last Coldplay show from this record-setting event is September 8. Beloved 'Star Wars' Star, 73, Isn't Interested in Returning to the Franchiseoriginally appeared onParade. Mark Hamill, who famously played Luke Skywalker in severalStar Warsfilms, says he's not interested in filming for the franchise again. During a May 31 interview withComicBook, Hamill referenced thatDaisy Ridleyis returning to play Rey Skywalker for an upcoming film titled,New Jedi Order. As fans are aware, Rey was trained by Luke to hone in her Jedi skills inStar Wars: The Last Jedi, which premiered in 2017. Hamill told the publication that he thinks theStar Warsfranchise should move on from Luke's story. "I am so grateful toGeorge [Lucas]for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George calledStar Wars'the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,'" said Hamill during the interview. "We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I'm appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters." Hamill also noted that Luke died inThe Last Jedi. While his character could come back as a force ghost, Hamill said he rather not return as post-death Luke, for a specific reason. "And by the way, when I disappeared in [The Last Jedi], I left my robes behind. And there's no way I'm gonna appear as a naked Force ghost," joked Hamill. Hamill spoke about filming the firstStar Warsfilm, which premiered in 1977, during a June 2023 interview withCBS Sunday Morning. He said he, the lateCarrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, andHarrison Ford, who played Han Solo, did not know how popular the franchise would become. "We started the publicity tour, it was Carrie, Harrison, and me and when we landed in Chicago, I looked out and I saw there were crowds outside. I said, 'Hey you guys there must be somebody famous on this plane," said Hamill during the 2023 interview. "We're looking around for some super star athlete or something. [The fans were] dressed like us! There was no merchandising at the time. So they had made homemade lightsabers and all these things. We sort of looked at each other and said, 'Wow.'" VIENNA (AP) — Strauss'"Blue Danube" waltzhas finally made it into space, nearly a half-century after missing a ride on NASA's twin Voyager spacecraft. TheEuropean Space Agency'sbig radio antenna in Spainbeamed the waltzinto the cosmos Saturday. Operators aimed the dish at Voyager 1, the world's most distant spacecraft more than 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) away. Traveling at the speed of light, the music was expected to overtake Voyager 1 within 23 hours. The Vienna Symphony Orchestra performed the "Blue Danube" during the space transmission, which actually sent up a version from rehearsal. It's part of the yearlong celebration marking the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss II, who was born in Vienna in 1825. The Strauss space send-off also honors the 50th anniversary of ESA's founding. Launched in 1977 and now in interstellar space, each of the two Voyagers carries a Golden Record full of music but nothing from the waltz king. His "Blue Danube" holds special meaning for space fans: It's featured in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi film "2001: A Space Odyssey."

Beloved 'Doctor Who' Star, 42, Returns to the Series in Surprise Twistoriginally appeared onParade. BelovedDoctor WhostarBillie Piper, 42, has made her big return! The actress, who made her mark as the Doctor's companion Rose Tyler in 2005 and 2006, came back for the show's Season 14 finale, as reported byEntertainment Weekly. According to the publication, the Fifteenth Doctor, played byNcuti Gatwa, regenerated into the Sixteenth Doctor, portrayed by Piper, during the finale. This means that Piper will likely be the Doctor in the next season ofDoctor Who. According to Entertainment Weekly, Piper acknowledged that she was filming again forDoctor Whoin a May 2025 BBC press release. "It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return to the Whoniverse, as I have some of my best memories there. So to be given the opportunity to step back on that TARDIS one more time was just something I couldn't refuse, but who, how, why, and when, you'll just have to wait and see," stated Piper. The Season 14 finale also marked the end of Gatwa's time playing the show's time-traveling protagonist, who has been portrayed by several actors since the show's first season in 1963. Entertainment Weekly reported that Gatwa spoke about exiting the series for theDoctor WhoYouTube channel. He said he was aware he had limited time playing the Doctor, like all the other actors who take on the iconic role. As fans are aware, the character often regenerates with a brand-new face. "You know it's going to happen when you get cast. You're like, 'I'm gonna have to hand this baton over. One day, it's all going to come to an end.' It's been bittersweet, as I can imagine it's been for all Doctors," said Gatwa. The actor also said that it was "a role that demands a lot of you, physically and emotionally and mentally." "The actors playing the Doctor are only actors playing the Doctor. Unfortunately, we are mere mortals. I would love to have the energy and the youth to be able to do this full time for the rest of my life, but my knees are telling me it's time," continued the 32-year-old in the video. Piper spoke about her time filming as Rose in an October 2022 interview withBig Finish Productions. She said she enjoyed that Rose is "willful" and brave. Megyn Kelly slams Beyoncé for including footage of her in "Cowboy Carter" tour visuals: 'She could play the victim'

Ivan Apfel/Getty; Alex Slitz/Getty Megyn Kellyis having a meltdown over her unexpected inclusion inBeyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour. The political commentator responded to the Grammy-winning artist splicing footage of one of her on-air interviews into the visuals for the musician's ongoing tour, which blurred Kelly's face and also featured the brief inclusion of other media clips containing commentary about her foray into the country genre. Though Kelly's face is not explicitly recognizable, the former Fox News host slammed the inclusion onThursday's episode of her eponymous SiriusXMshow. "It recently came to my attention that Beyoncé', who's on some world tour right now reinventing herself as a country star, is running videotape during the show of yours truly," Kelly began. The clip in question, Kelly clarified, hailed from her conversation withSky News Australialast year, in which she mocked the country album and the way it had been marketed as if Beyoncé were "Jesus incarnated" and "here to rescue country music." "She is considered untouchable," Kelly continued. "You're not allowed to rip on her, by the way. You're not allowed to rip on Michelle Obama, either, but we do. Too bad. The more untouchable you tell me somebody is, the more likely I am to want to hit them." She lamented that the music superstar "had to scour the internet to find anybody who offered any criticism of this move [into country] whatsoever," adding, "Here is another one of the most privileged, beloved women in the world, and richest based on her own fortune ... but still has to look for the one sliver where she could play the victim and be aggrieved because big bad Megyn Kelly said something completely milquetoast about her entry into country music." Brooke Sutton/Getty Kelly then compared the inclusion to her previous spat withGeorge Clooney, who caused great offense when hequestioned her career as a journalist last month. Speaking with fellow Broadway starPatti LuPone, Clooney — currently portraying broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow inGood Night, and Good Luck— said at the time,  "I'm not quite sure what she has done to be a journalist." "He's George f---ing Clooney. She's Beyoncé, but they can't take the mildest criticism," Kelly griped. Entertainment Weeklyhas reached out to Beyoncé's rep for comment. The Cowboy Carter tour kicked off in Los Angeles on April 28 and is set to conclude in Las Vegas on July 26. The music icon recently won the 2025 Grammy for Best Country Album, becoming the first Black woman to do so. She has spoken candidly aboutnot feeling welcome within the country genredespite her Texan roots. Read the original article onEntertainment Weekly

I Have a Major Theory About 'And Just Like That' Season 3—and OG 'Sex and the City' Fans Are Gonna Love itNew Foto - I Have a Major Theory About 'And Just Like That' Season 3—and OG 'Sex and the City' Fans Are Gonna Love it

In one of the fastest new season turnarounds in recent memory,And Just Like That…is back with season three—and things are off toa slow but totally solid start. The first episode ofAnd Just Like Thatseason threeis alreadystreaming on Max(Or HBO? Or HBO Max? I dunno, ask Jean Smart). So far, Carrie is doing long-distance with Aidan, Miranda is sleeping with a very familiar looking nun, LTW has a Michelle Obama quandary,Seemais serving up a Hollywood movie ending on a dilapidated pier and Charlotte…well, she has another dog plotline. But what will happen next?! After watching the first episode of the new season, I have a prediction—and I think fans of the originalSex and the Citywill like my theory. Craig Blankenhorn/Max As the credits rolled (and Carriedidn'thave a voiceover saying, "And just like that…"—more on this in a minute), I couldn't help but wonder, are we finally getting back to the show's roots? My theory: This season will be the closest one yet to the OGSex and the City. I have a few reasons to think this. First of all, the new characters are much more solidified now. We know them. We love them. We aren't confused as to why Carrie is spending so much time with her realtor anymore. In a great way, for the first time, we aren't introducing major new characters. Like with the original series, the new faces we meet (like Rosie) are clearly guest stars who will provide minor storylines at best. And while the new season three gang stands at five members instead of the original four, this feels much more manageable—and much more likeSATC—without usalsohaving to follow Che and Nya (and too much of Anthony's plotline) as well. This, plus the absence of any life-altering events like a spouse's death, makes the whole thing feel much more episodic, likeSATC. Craig Blankenhorn/Max And finally, the end of the episode seems to hint that we're getting back to our roots in a big (but not Big) way—albeit with a twist. No more podcast. No more trying to force Carrie into some career she was never intended for. Carrie sits down at her laptop and begins to type, complete withSex and the City-esque voiceover. And, we ditch Carrie saying, "And just like that…" as her final line (although she does slip it into dialogue in the middle of a convo with Anthony earlier—TBD ifthatbecomes a thing this season). Seeing Carrie back at her laptop, after an episode free of deaths or wild twists or new characters or too many characters is refreshing. It takes me back to why I fell in love with the series and the characters in the first place. The one big twist with the laptop though? Carrie doesn't write in the first person. Her text (and voiceover) says, "The woman wondered what she had gotten herself into." The woman?! At least this is a Peloton-free twist I can get on board with. 'Doctor Who' season finale surprises fans with an exit — and a familiar faceNew Foto - 'Doctor Who' season finale surprises fans with an exit — and a familiar face

LONDON (AP) — A familiar face to "Doctor Who" fans is rejoining the long-running British sci-fi series as Ncuti Gatwa exits the lead role after two seasons. In Saturday's season finale, Gatwa's Time Lord regenerated and fans got a glimpse of Billie Piper, who played the character Rose Tyler for 35 episodes between 2005 and 2013. Tyler was a companion to versions of the doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Producers are keeping Piper's new role secret — for now. "Just how and why she is back remains to be seen," the BBC said in a statement after the finale aired. "It's an honour and a hoot to welcome her back to the TARDIS, but quite how and why and who is a story yet to be told," showrunner Russell T Davies said in a statement. Piper said "Doctor Who" has provided some of her best memories and she couldn't pass up the opportunity to come back. "It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return ... but who, how, why and when, you'll just have to wait and see," she said. If Piper does indeed become the Doctor, she would be the third woman to fill the famous shoes. The Rwanda-born, Scotland-raised Gatwa, 29, was the first Black actor to helm the show, but he wasn't the first Black Doctor — Jo Martin played "Fugitive Doctor" in several episodes. Gatwa took over the role from Jodie Whittaker in 2023. Whittakerwas the 13th Doctor— andthe first womanto play the central galaxy-hopping, extraterrestrial Time Lord who regenerates into new bodies. Shetook over from Peter Capaldiin 2017. "Doctor Who" first aired from 1963 to 1989 and returned in 2005. In the U.S., new episodes air on Disney+.

"Duck Dynasty: The Revival" cast: See which Robertsons are returning from the original series

Bryan Tarnowski/A+E Duck Dynasty: The Revivalis a follow-up to the original A&E series and its spinoffs. The show has been greenlit for 20 one-hour episodes. Willie and Korie Robertson star alongside their adult children and grandchildren in this new chapter of family life. The Robertson family is heading back to the small screen, eight years afterDuck Dynastywrapped its 11-season run onA&E. The new series,Duck Dynasty: The Revival, brings together many original cast members, but one major figure is missing. Family patriarch Phil Robertson was not involved with the revival series, which premieres just days after hisdeath on May 25at age 79. His health had declined in recent years, and in 2024, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Son Willie Robertson paid tribute to him onInstagram, sharing several photos and recalling his father's final words to him: "You're my brother." The Revivalwill center on Willie and Korie Robertson as they navigate life with their adult children and grandchildren on the family's Louisiana homestead. And yes — fan favorites like Miss Kay andUncle Siare back to stir up some chaos, too. Ready to catch up with the Robertsons? Here's a guide to the returning cast members inDuck Dynasty: The Revival. Matthias Clamer/A+E Among the most recognizable faces returning to the world ofDuck Dynastyis Willie Robertson, the third son of Phil and Kay Robertson. A main cast member in the original series, Willie is stepping into an even bigger role this time around. Willie has stayed busy since the first show wrapped. He continued leading the family business as CEO of Duck Commander and even reopened Willie's Duck Diner in 2017 (it closed its doors again in early 2019). In 2021, he hit the stage as the Mallard onThe Masked Singerand launched a Facebook Watch talk show,At Home with the Robertsons, with his wife, Korie. The couple married in 1992 and share six children: John Luke, Sadie, Will, Rowdy, Bella, and Rebecca. Most recently, Willie published a book in 2024 titledGospeler: Turning Darkness Into Light One Conversation at a Time, chronicling his personal journey to find faith. As for their return to television, Willie and Koriesaid in a statement, "Going back on A&E feels a little like going back home. We're thankful for all who have followed along as our family has grown and expanded and can't wait to get cameras rolling again on all our new adventures, or perhaps misadventures." Matthias Clamer/A+E Willie's wife, Korie Robertson, is also back for the sequel series. Over the years, Korie has released several books, including the parenting guideStrong and Kind: Raising Kids of Character(2017). She often collaborates with other family members on her writing, including her mother-in-law, Kay Robertson. In 2023, Korie and Willie producedThe Blind, a film about Phil and Kay Robertson that also explores the former's infidelity, alcoholism, and faith journey. The movie struck a chord with audiences, earning $17 million during its four-week theatrical run. That same year, the couple also produced the faith-based musicalHis Storyin The Colony, Tex. Reflecting on the family's return to TV, Korie told theNew York Postthat things are much more relaxed this time around. When the original show premiered in 2012, "We were like 'we're going to be on television' and we got our nails done and put extensions in the hair, the makeup was perfect and all that," she said. But now? "We're kind of like, 'OK, the cameras are in our house.' We're so used to it. So we're walking out having our coffee, and the cameras are there." Art Streiber/A+E Miss Kay, the iconic matriarch of the Robertson family and wife of the late Phil, will return for theDuck Dynastyrevival. Together, she and Phil raised sons Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep. Last year, Jay Stone, who's married to Phil and Kay's granddaughter Anna, shared an update on Miss Kay via theDuck Call Roompodcast. He revealed that she has moved in with them and is "doing good." He added, "She's surrounded by her family. There's people in and out constantly. So she's doing well and she's eating well." In recent years, Miss Kay has faced health challenges, some related to falls that resulted in broken bones and other injuries. Matthias Clamer/A+E Phil Robertson's brother, the ever-entertaining Uncle Si, is also set to return for theDuck Dynastyrevival. Since the original series wrapped, Si has fully embraced the spotlight. He starred in the short-lived A&E spinoffGoing Si-Ral(2016–2017) and made a guest appearance onLast Man Standing(2015). These days, Si keeps busy as a co-host of theDuck Call Roompodcast, alongside Justin Martin and John Godwin. He also enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Christine Raney, their two children, Trasa and Scott, and his eight grandchildren. However, Si has faced some serious health challenges in recent years. He was diagnosed with COPD and underwent lung surgery in September 2022. In January 2025, he gave fans a bit of a scare whenhe was hospitalized for a bad fall. Despite his health battles, Si was eager to return to TV. According to Korie, he was the one person who "didn't need any convincing" to step back in front of the cameras. "I think he's been ready since we wrapped the last season," she toldTV Insider. "Seriously, it's so much fun to get to spend time filming with him. He keeps us all laughing!" Matthias Clamer/A+E She's all grown up! WhenDuck Dynastyfirst hit screens, Willie and Korie's eldest daughter, Sadie Robertson, was just 15. Now nearly 28, she's a mom with a growing family of her own onDuck Dynasty: The Revival. Sadie launched her faith-focused podcastWHOA That's Goodin 2018, where she dives into topics like purpose, confidence, and spiritual growth. In 2019,she married Christian Huff. The couple has two daughters, Honey James and Haven Belle. In February 2025, theyannouncedthey're expecting baby number three. Matthias Clamer/A+E Willie and Korie's eldest son, John Luke, has come a long way since his teenage years onDuck Dynasty. Now a husband and father, he married Mary Kate McEacharn in 2015, and together they have three kids: John, Ella, and Wells. Since stepping away from the spotlight, John Luke has followed in the creative footsteps of his family. In 2016, he wroteYoung and Beardless: The Search for God, Purpose, and a Meaningful Life. John Luke currently serves as the camp director at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca in Calhoun, La. He's also ventured into business and created Kings Lane Coffee, a small-batch specialty coffee roasting company. Matthias Clamer/A+E Guess who's been promoted? Willie and Korie's son, Will "Willie Jr." Robertson! While he was a familiar face as a recurring cast member on the original series, Will and his wife, Abby Robertson (née Hammond), are now set to take on a main role in the upcoming revival. Since his time away from reality TV, Will has pursued his passion for music. He's a member of the bandLO Worship, whose songs provide the soundtrack for Sadie's Live Original brand. As for the revival series, Will shared his excitement onInstagramback in January: "WE ARE SO BACK!!!" he wrote. "We are beyond excited for what is to come with this new show! so grateful to be sharing the name and love of Jesus during this journey!! y'all stay tuned for more to come!!!" Matthias Clamer/A+E The youngest of the Robertson siblings, Bella is stepping into adulthood. Since graduating from Liberty University in 2024, she's building a life with her husband, Jacob Mayo, whom she married in 2021. Like many members of her family, Bella is also a writer. In September 2021, she releasedMy Greenhouse, a heartfelt collection of poems inspired by her first romance. As theDuck Dynastyrevival takes shape, Bella and Jacob are opening up about something deeply personal: their journey with infertility. In a recent interview withUs Weekly, Bella explained, "We share a story of infertility in the show, and that's something that we haven't really shared publicly that much, but that's something that others just don't know. When you just look at someone on social media, you can't know what anyone's going through." Although the couple initially hesitated to speak about such a personal topic, they ultimately felt compelled to share. "It felt right," Bella told the outlet. "This is just one of the ways that we are showing up and being our authentic selves on this new show." Matthias Clamer/A+E Rebecca Robertson Loflin, whom Willie and Korie began fostering in 2004, first came to the Robertson family as a foreign exchange student from Taiwan. While she only appeared in a few episodes ofDuck Dynasty,Rebecca is now stepping into the limelight. After the Robertsons took a step back from television, Rebecca moved to Los Angeles, where she explored her passion for fashion. She later returned home with a vision, working with Korie to launch the store Duck and Dressing in 2019. Driven by her love for motherhood and style, she also foundedMe & My, a boutique brand specializing in matching outfits for moms and their little ones. Rebecca married John Reed Loflin in 2016. Afro Mexican actors fighting racism celebrate their heritage through their playsNew Foto - Afro Mexican actors fighting racism celebrate their heritage through their plays

TICUMÁN, México (AP) — There was something about her body, but Mexican actress Eréndira Castorela couldn't quite put her finger on it. Some casting directors told her she was "too tall" to play a Mexican woman. Others insinuated her features weren't sufficiently "Indigenous." "It wasn't until later that I discovered what it means to recognize oneself as Afro," said Castorela, who subsequently confirmed her African ancestry. "We are a diverse community which, perhaps due to discrimination, doesn't identify as such." Her life changed after she joined Mulato Teatro, a theater company that empowers actors of African descent who are eager to forge a career despite racism. However, like most Afro Mexican activists, Castorela believes that nationwide recognition is still a long way off. "If we look around, we'll see curly hair, high cheekbones, full lips or dark skin," the 33-year-old said. "But there's a wound that prevents us from recognizing ourselves." The Afro Mexican lineage Unlike the United States, where there have been concerted efforts to boost awareness of theBlack history, acknowledgingBlack peoplein Mexico has received little support. "The concept of mixed race denies the cultural diversity that defines us as Mexicans," said María Elisa Velázquez, a researcher at the National School of Anthropology and History. "We are not only Indigenous, but also European, African and Asian." It is well known that the Mesoamerican lands conquered by the Spaniards in the 16th century were inhabited by Indigenous people, resulting in mixed-race marriages and births. Less noted is the fact that some mixed-race Mexicans are partly descended from enslaved Black people. According to Velázquez, the evolution of communities incorporating Black people depended on their geographic location. "Much of the Afro-descendant population established relations and coexisted alongside different Indigenous groups, resulting in very heterogeneous communities," she said. Official figures from 2024 estimate the Afro-descendant population in Mexico is 3.1 million, mainly residing in the states of Guerrero, Morelos, Colima and Quintana Roo. While most identify as African Mexican, nearly two-thirds also perceive themselves as Indigenous. Finding her true identity Castorela — born in Morelos, a state neighboringMexico City— recalls looking through family photo albums after first wondering if she had African ancestry. The features of her relatives left no room for doubt. "I also realized we had created a narrative that concealed our origins," she said. "There was always someone saying: 'But there was a blond person in the family,' or 'Grandma had finer features.'" Castorela may not have curly hair and her skin tone may not resemble that of other Afro women, but she said her body never lied. When she was a young actress taking ballet classes, she felt constrained and uncomfortable. It wasn't until she joined African dance classes that the choreography was ideal for her height, weight and soul. "I feel much freer because there's openness and movement," she said. "Identifying as African Mexican has given me the mental and spiritual peace I needed to realize there is a place where I can reflect myself." A struggling career The theater company where Castorela and two dozen other artists collaborate was founded in the early 2000s by another Afro woman who struggled to excel as a Black actress in Mexico. Born in Colombia, a South American country where around 10% of the population is Black, Marisol Castillo said she had no clue her physical features would hinder her career. But after falling in love with Mexican playwright Jaime Chabaud and moving to his hometown, everything changed. "Some want to force us to fit a mold, a white mold," Castillo said. "And when we differ, we're told: 'You're a bad actor, you're out of tune.' But we're just different." Casting directors mostly offered Castillo roles as prostitute, exotic dancer, maid or slave. So she teamed up with Chabaud, and "Mulato Teatro" was born. "There was very little openness and awareness," Chabaud said. "So I started writing plays for her." Tales of African and Mexican heritage The themes of Chabaud's plays are as diverse as the actors who bring his characters to life. "African Erotic Tales of the Black Decameron" draws inspiration from oral traditions, fusing the worldview of African communities. "Yanga" portrays a real-life 17th-century Black hero who is considered a liberator in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Among the topics inspiring Chabaud are not only African legends or characters, but stories closer to home. "Where are you going, Mr. Opossum?" tells the tale of a "Tlacuache," an ancient creature from Mesoamerican mythology. In Chabaud's play, the Tlacuache steals fire from a goddess to save humanity from hunger and darkness. The creature has no divine powers, but his ability to play dead enables him to sneak past the Jaguar, a deity safeguarding the flames. "Jaime always tells us that we should all worship Mr. Tlacuache instead of other deities," said Aldo Martin, playing the leading role. Martin, 28, does not identify as Afro, but feels the company's work successfully portrays Mexico's diversity. "Our ancestors are not only Indigenous, but a fusion, and these mixed heritages have resulted in a very distinct society, made of all colors, which shouldn't pigeonhole us into just being Afro," Martin said. Diversity is welcomed at Mulato Teatro Castillo and Chabaud primarily encourage Afro-Mexican artists to work in their plays, but they also welcome amateur actors and LGBTQ+ performers. One of them is transgender actress Annya Atanasio Cadena, who began her career in plays addressing topics such as suicide, alcoholism and drug addiction in marginalized communities. "In my (LGBTQ+) community, we know what it's like to fight against the world," said Atanasio, who plays a trans woman in one of Chabaud's plays about gender violence. "I'm very moved to have been given the chance to become part of this space, which also heals me," she added. "We can show that we exist and we are more than just a story. We are bodies, desires, feelings, and the pain we carry." Dreams of an unknown land There's a special play written and directed by Castillo: "Dreaming of Africa." Although she has not been able to trace the exact roots of her ancestry, her work and community make her feel closer to a long-lost home. "When we, people from the same ethnicity meet, we call each other 'brother,'" Castillo said. "After all, we came from the same ports." She said she'll never forget a presentation of "Dreaming of Africa," when a girl from the audience approached her. "She could barely speak, so we hugged," Castillo said. "Then she said: 'Thank you for telling me I'm pretty, for making me feel my worth'." Castillo, too, learns something about herself as she acts, writes and directs. It's like peeling an onion, she said, taking layer by layer to reveal what's underneath. "I grow with each play," Castillo said. "I feel prouder of my roots, knowing that I can move away from stereotypes like playing a prostitute or a witch. That I, too, can be a queen." ____ Associated Press religion coverage receives support through the AP'scollaborationwith The Conversation US, with funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. Happy Birthday,Brooke Shields! The actress and model, who turns 60 on May 31, 2025, has been in the spotlight for for more than 50 years, starting with her first job at 11 months modeling for Ivory Soap, continuing into her teens with roles in films such asPretty BabyandBlue Lagoon— not to mention her famous Calvin Klein campaign at the age of 15. After decades in the spotlight, Shields embraces the beauty of getting older, telling PEOPLE last yearthat "I think after you turn 50, so much opened up for me. I had raised my kids. I had a different place that I was putting myself in my life. I think I was never afraid of the next decade or the next year." In 2025, Shields published her bookBrooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old,whichin her own wordsis an "exploration of talking to women over 40, looking at marketing, the beauty industry, how we're treated and perceived by advertisers — not just entertainment, but in everyday life," along with sharing stories about all aspects of her life from sex to her marriages to her children. As she continues to embrace the"beginning of a new chapter," here's a look back at some of the most fabulous throwbacks of the birthday girl. Brooke Shields/Instagram Shields is a New Yorker through and through. She captioned these throwback snaps of herself at a hot dog stand as a young girl, "The city I love. Born and raised!" Brooke Shields/Instagram Young Shields was "clearly not superstitious" walking around with an umbrella in the house. Brooke Shields Instagram Brooke Shields hasfive siblings, sisters Marina, Olympia, Cristiana and Diana, and one brother, Thomas. Shields' mother Teri and father Frank were married briefly but divorced months after Shields was born; Frank welcomed three more kids with his second wife, as well as step-parented her two elder children as well. She is close with her siblings, but was raised primarily as an only child to Teri, a single mom who was also her manager from the time she was a baby. Shields' mom, Teri, made her some pretty amazing costumes. As a child, Shields was everything from a flower to a tube of toothpaste! Recognize the famous face? That's Shields' old pal,Laura Linney! Shields revealed that the two were childhood friends with an adorablethrowback photo. Years later, theOzarkactress appeared in Shields' documentaryPretty Babyand opened up about growing up together. Brooke Shields had some of the most famous features of the 1980s, from her iconic eyebrows to her shampoo commercial hair. She modeled for Breck as a child, thenfor Wella Balsam in the early '80s— and showed off an elaborate updo at an event for the brand in 1981. In 1980, Shields was seen on the set of a Wella Balsam shampoo commercial. The '80s were a great time to have big hair, as Brooke can attest. Even further proof: Brooke's feathered curls, purple eye shadow and frosted lips in 1982. Who could forget Shields' iconic — though controversial — Calvin Klein campaign? In the television ad, a 15-year-old Shields asked and answered, "You wanna know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing." More than four decades after appearing in the campaign, Shields auctioned off the pair she wore in the ad along with her script from the 1980 filmThe Blue Lagoonand her high school cheerleading sweater. "I am going to be an empty nester! I'm so sad. But now I'm going through all my closets and my things and am ready to give some of my special pieces away, like my Calvin Klein jeans,"she told PEOPLE at the time, referring to both of her daughters heading off to college. "Can you imagine my waist was ever that small? It's terrifying! But I hope that somebody enjoys these just as much as I have and finds them as meaningful as I do. I can't wait for someone to show these off!" In this still from 1984, Shields' mom is seen brushing her hair as the model applies makeup. During a 1983 trip to Monte Carlo, Shields took a ride in a convertible while exuding '80s glam. In 1983, Shields designed a line of tights for Shogren Hosiery, and of course modeled them herself. In her 2014 memoirThere Was a Little Girl, Shields wrote about the lack of privacy she experienced whileattending the Ivy League school as a pubic figure. "The paparazzi tried to sneak onto campus, dressed like what they thought college students looked like, and follow me around," she wrote. "One photographer hid in a vent to photograph me walking to a class; another attempted to bribe a Mathey College freshman to take a camera into the showers and snap me in the nude. James Van Der Beek's "Dawson's Creek" hair was inspired by EW photo of Brad Pitt: 'Looked like pubescent Jesus'

Getty; Everett Fun fact:Entertainment Weeklyhad a surprising impact onDawson's Creek. While series starJames Van Der Beekhas previously spoken about how his season 1 haircut was based onBrad Pitt, he's now sharing that the inspiration photo given to the hairdresser actually came from an issue of EW's magazine. While speaking at an ATX TV Festival panel honoring the legendary career ofDawson's CreekcreatorKevin Williamsonon Friday, Van Der Beek recalled the story about how he had to get a haircut before taking on the role of teen filmmaker Dawson Leery. And that's when he revealed which version of Pitt inspired his last-minute late '90s haircut. Entertainment Weekly "We ran all over town [trying to get a haircut], and Kevin's assistant said, 'I got an appointment at my hairdresser,'" Van Der Beek told the panel's audience in Austin of the fiasco. "And I meet his assistant [at the salon], and there was anEntertainment Weeklywith a picture ofBrad Pitt inTheDevil's Own,and we're like, 'Alright, give him that.'" he said of his character. "So that became the Dawson season 1 haircut." The actor laughed as he mocked what his hair looked like before that pivotal haircut. "I looked like pubescent Jesus," he said. "It was long." Van Der Beek, who opened up about hisongoing colorectal cancer battlein December, previously shared that he won't let his six children (whom he shares with wife Kimberly Brook) watchDawson's Creek. "I do not [let them watch]," he said. "It's a great show, I love the show, I think other kids can watch it. I don't think my kids need to watch their dad pretend to go through puberty. That's my stance on it." However, the actor still appreciates the beloved teen drama. Is "Karate Kid: Legends" a "Cobra Kai" Sequel? Here's How the New Movie Fits Into the Universe

© Columbia Pictures Karate Kid: Legendsis the sixth movie in the franchise Cobra Kairan for six seasons, ending in February 2025 Ralph Macchio first played Daniel LaRusso in 1984'sThe Karate Kid It's "legends only" inKarate Kid: Legends. The 2025 movie is the latest installment in the story of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who audiences first met in 1984'sThe Karate Kid.He was introduced to a new generation onCobra Kai, which finished its six-season run in February 2025. Karate Kid: Legendsmerges the worlds ofThe Karate Kidfranchise. Macchio is back as Daniel, and in his latest adventure, he meets Mr. Han, played byJackie Chan, from the 2010Karate Kidremake starringJaden Smith. Mr. Han knew Daniel's original teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita), and Macchio explained toThe Hollywood Reporterhow that element is "another ecosystem in the grand universe" ofThe Karate Kid. "This franchise doesn't know how to not do it right when we care," he said. "I try to always take great care and protect my character, and I like to believe I've done that again." So, with multiple characters fromThe Karate Kidworld appearing together, isKarate Kid: Legendsa sequel toCobra Kai? Here's everything to know about how the new movie connects to the popular Netflix series. Warning: Spoilers ahead forKarate Kid: Legends! © Columbia Pictures Karate Kid: Legendsis not a direct sequel toCobra Kai, but it takes place in the same world as the series and original movies. "There are many, many seasons ofCobra Kai.This is not aCobra Kaimovie. It's within theKarate Kiduniverse," director Jonathan Entwistle toldCollider. "It's another chapter in the story. It's another graphic novel in the sequence." © Columbia Pictures Yes,Karate Kid: Legendstakes place three years after theCobra Kaiseries finale. "Our filmis setafter the sixth and final season ofCobra Kaiand takes theKarate Kidmythology in a fresh direction with a new set of characters," director Entwistle explained to PEOPLE in April 2025. Columbia Pictures / courtesy Everett Collection Karate Kid: Legendsintroduces a new protagonist to the iconic franchise: Li Fong (played by Ben Wang). Li is a Beijing-born martial arts student who trains under Mr. Han and Daniel. When Li moves to New York City, he continues to practice kung-fu with Mr. Han while also learning karate from Daniel. Curtis Bonds Baker/Netflix In thefinal episodeofCobra Kai, the Sekai Taikai tournament comes to an exhilarating end when Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) faces off against the intimidating Sensei Wolf (Lewis Tan) and ultimately wins. Daniel and Johnny celebrate their victory, as Cobra Kai is declared "the world's no. 1 dojo." "I don't think we knew from the beginning that Johnny would be a world champion," co-creator Jon Hurwitz toldTudum. "But we knew we wanted him to exorcise those demons from 1984 and [get] back on those red mats in the All Valley Sports Arena with a giant victory that felt pure, with Daniel and him having worked through their issues." For Macchio, Johnny and Daniel's friendship shows how far the two have come since they first met more than 40 years ago. "It speaks to the complexities of those characters and the fact that we love to see them working together," he said. "They'll still drive each other insane like any good married couple." Columbia Pictures / courtesy Everett Collection Macchio returns forKarate Kid: Legends, but anotherCobra Kaicast member makes a surprise cameo: Zabka, reprising his role as Johnny Lawrence. Zabka's appearance comes at the end of the movie, and his scene was a "very, very hard" secret to keep, according to Entwistle. "We built a brand-new Miyagi house just for the movie, which was based on the original version and that was the only place that we shot with Billy," the director explained toScreenRant. "So we snuck him in and we hid him away almost in the closet, in Miyagi's closet." Macchio added how it was "great having him" inKarate Kid: Legends. "He gracesCobra Kaiwith a brilliant performance and he graces us here with a tip of the hat to the legendary Johnny Lawrence. It's great to have him in there," he said. Curtis Bonds Baker/Netflix© 2024 No, another season ofCobra Kaiis not currently planned. The Netflix series ended in February 2025 after six seasons. In a February 2025The New York Timesinterview, Macchio voiced his hopes for aCobra Kaimovie in the future. "IfKarate Kid: Legendsdoes well, I would love to see aCobra Kaimovie in two or three years," said the actor. "As long as there's a way to be truthful to the characters, to propel a story in a way that opens it up to generations, it's something I'd be open to having a conversation about." Going back to the small screen,Cobra Kaicreators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz have hinted at some spinoff ideas, with one being a prequel series about a young Mr. Miyagi. "We'll see exactly what path we take in terms of spinoffs, but it is definitely something that we've been wanting to do," Schlossberg toldThe Hollywood Reporterin July 2024. Macchio is keeping the door open for returning to theKarate Kiduniverse, tellingThe Hollywood Reporter, "We'll see." "As long as it's honest, genuine and truthful to the base of this character and these characters, I'll always be open to listen because I like that the next generation can experience the joy of what we've been through," the star continued. "In a world that's not always joyful, it's really cool to bring some of that." Read the original article onPeople

Mexican band Grupo Firme cancels US show, saying their visas were suspended by Trump administrationNew Foto - Mexican band Grupo Firme cancels US show, saying their visas were suspended by Trump administration

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The popular Mexican regional music band Grupo Firme announced on Friday that it was canceling a performance in a music festival in California over the weekend after the United States government suspended the musicians' visas. It comes after the U.S. State Department hasrevoked visas of a number of Mexican musiciansfor playing a genre of music that it says glorifies cartel violence. The group, which has soared to international fame playing Mexican regional music, said in a statement posted on its Instagram account that the visas of them and their team are currently under "administrative review by the U.S. Embassy" and that it would make it "impossible" for them to perform in the La Onda Fest to be held in the city of Napa Valley, California on June 1. But the post didn't detail what it would mean in the long term for the musical group. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico said that visa cases are confidential according to U.S. law and couldn't provide more information on the case. The suspension is just the latest in a series of moves the administration of U.S. PresidentDonald Trumphas taken targeting Mexican artists in the genre, who in some cases have glorified the leaders of cartels as sort of Robin Hood figures. While the genre of "narco-corridos" has stirred controversy, much of the music also speaks to the harsh realities facingMexican youth caught in cartel violence. Two months ago, the Mexican musical group Los Alegres del Barranco was sanctioned after it projected images of the leader of the feared Jalisco New Generation Cartel at a concert in the western state of Jalisco. "I'm a firm believer in freedom of expression, but that doesn't mean that expression should be free of consequences," U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said at the time. "The last thing we need is a welcome mat for people who extol criminals and terrorists." But Grupo Firme has taken steps in recent months to distance itself from the facet of the musical genre glorifying criminal groups, announcing in April shortly after the controversy that it would not sing such music in concerts.

Sora Wong's Journey from School Plays to "Bring Her Back" with 'Zero Experience' in Professional Acting (Exclusive)

A24 Sora Wong, who stars in the horror movieBring Her Back, had "zero experience" acting professionally before she was cast in the film Her mom came across a casting call on Facebook looking for a visually impaired girl Wong was born with coloboma and microphthalmia, which left her with limited sight "Why not just give it a shot?" That was Sora Wong's attitude when her mom came across a casting call on Facebook looking for a visually impaired girl to audition for an upcoming movie. The Australian high school student, now 14, had only performed in one school play before deciding to put herself out there forBring Her Back, a horror movie from directors Danny and Michael Phiippou, the twisted minds behind 2023'sTalk to Me. "I had zero experience in acting," she says regarding doing anything professional. "So when I got the news back that I managed to pull this role, I was really ecstatic and thrilled." A24 Wong was born with coloboma and microphthalmia, leaving her with limited sight. According to theNational Institute of Health, the former is a congenital condition where part of the eye tissue is missing, while the latter is an underdeveloped eye. Her character in the film, Piper, is blind, a trait which attracted Wong to the role. "One of the main reasons why I was drawn and really determined to try and achieve this character was because I related to her in so many ways," she says. "And I thought it was really important and amazing that I got to portray someone who I could relate with," adds Wong. The territory was otherwise foreign to Wong, who lives with her parents and little sister Kira (who plays young Piper). A24 In the film, Piper and her older 17-year-old step brother Andy (Billy Barratt), are left orphaned when their father dies. The two are taken in by Laura (two-time Oscar nomineeSally Hawkins), a hippyish foster mom who is already caring for a mute bald boy (Joan Wren Phillips) at her remote home. While Andy senses something is off with Laura, Piper is eager to settle in and become a family again. Without giving away any spoilers, Andy turns out to be right about Laura, who has a sinister plot in store. The ensuing action is gory and frightening — and even Wong got a little spooked by Hawkins. "She's so sweet offscreen," says Wong. "But definitely when we're getting into more intense scenes while you're in the moment, she can be sort of terrifying. And then after they call 'cut,' she goes back to being Sally and I'm like, Wow.'" A24 After the two wrapped one brutal scene, "she would hug me," Wong says of Hawkins. "It was really nice." Since filming wrapped, Wong has resumed her life as a regular student, hanging with friends and getting lost in a good book ("I like romance or mystery," she says). She says this time in her life, as she promotes the film, is "sort of surreal." "I've done a premiere and done interviews and everything and I really… I didn't know what to expect and now I'm here," adds Wong, who's optimistic that more offers will come her way. "I really hope to continue acting," she says. "And if anything pops up, I will be gladly trying to take it." Bring Her Backis now in theaters nationwide. Read the original article onPeople

Ord, according tomilitary.com. In 1953 he married model Maggie Johnson; together, they had children Kyle and Alison. Eastwood eventually enrolled at Los Angeles City College, and after three semesters, landed a $75-a-week contract with Universal. He hit it big in 1959 when he was cast as Rowdy Yates on the hit CBS seriesRawhide. As the series was coming to an end, Italian director Sergio Leone offered him his first Western role, as Joe inA Fistful of Dollars. It was a hit, and was followed by sequels includingFor a Few Dollars MoreandThe Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Throughout his career, Eastwood shared the screen with other icons of his time, including Shirley MacLaine inTwo Mules for Sister Sara. After making his directorial debut with the thrillerPlay Misty for Me,Eastwood went on to direct portions of another 1971 action film,Dirty Harry,in which he also starred.USA Todaycalled itthe "most iconic role" of his career.
