"When you look on a dating app, aren't you looking at code like, 'Yeah, this guy's married?' Not even the physical — it's what they say. It's like when they're like, 'I want someone who has their own life going on, and we meet up occasionally, but we don't have to ... ' like, he's basically saying, 'Will you be my side chick?' " TheAbbott Elementarystar has also shared she's not venturing into thedating worldalone, telling PEOPLE in August 2024 that she and her formerParent TrapcastmateElaine Hendrixoftenswap dating app storiesand compare potential matches. There are so many there are so many celebrities that I saw on Raya." Another A-lister who frequently appeared was none other thanAndrew Garfield. "I think Andrew Garfield's face came up for me so many times. Multiple times," Glaser said. "I'm sure he just didn't see my profile, even though I clicked on his a [million times]. They'll keep serving you up the same people, like, again and again for some reason." In aMay 2024 interview withNYLON, the formerOne Directionmember admitted thatdating apps haven't exactly worked in his favor. "Everyone accused me of catfishing. Teri Hatcher/Instagram When it comes to dating apps,Teri Hatcherhas "tried them all," but none of them quite panned out. "You know, I thought, I'm gonna say to the universe that I am open and vulnerable, and I'm putting myself out there. That's what I thought my gesture of joining that Hinge app would be. And then theykicked me off," she said during a January 2024appearance onGetting Grilled with Curtis Stone. "They thought I was pretending to be Teri Hatcher." She continued, "They apologized, and then I was like, 'I'm sort of over it.' So now I'm over it. I'm definitely done with the dating apps, and I feel like if there's any way I'll go somewhere and meet someone, that's what it's gonna have to be, but honestly, I'm happy. I have a really full life, a really busy life. I have beautiful friends. I, you know, it's fine. I don't need a man. I have a cat." Talking abouthis romancewith then-wifeLily Allenduring a June 2022 appearanceonThe Late Late Show with James Corden,Harbour revealed they met on Raya. "We met on one of them dating apps, and then we went on a date ... in London. She walked in and she said — she claims to have fallen in love with me at first sight — 'When I saw you, I saw the biggest person I'd ever seen in my life and also the smallest person I'd ever seen in my life.' " The couple were married for four yearsbefore splittingin February 2025. ThoughBethenny Frankelonce told PEOPLE shewanted to create her own dating app, she revealed in April 2021 that shemet now-ex-husband Paul Bernonon an already-existing one. And yes, the businessman's profile was truthful. "I was pretty lucky when I walked in and saw him," she said. "He had a twinkle. He came as advertised — better than advertised. He overshot the mark." Sincetheir splitin May 2024, theSkinnygirl founderhas said she'sshifted her dating approach. "I've tried to keep things on the DL," she told hostAlix Earlein a March 2025episode of theHot Messpodcast. "I have always sort of wanted to know exactly what everything is, and I'm trying to let the wine breathe more versus need to know what it is." Adam Rippon/X Olympic figure skaterAdam Ripponhad been on dating apps for a bit beforeswiping right on Jussi-Pekka Kajaala's Tinder profilein 2018, and by 2021, the duohad gotten engagedin Kajaala's home country, Finland. (They're now married!) So what did Kajaala say that caused sparks to fly? But after watchingthe steamy Netflix hitBridgertonchanged her mind months later. "I got back on a dating app duringBridgerton,"she admittedduring a January 2021 episode of her talk show. "I was like, 'I'm not dead! I'm not dead!' For me, that was a big step." However, Barrymore stillhasn't fully warmed up to the apps. "Every time I get on there, it does not feel great. I always last five days," Barrymore said onThe Drew Barrymore Showin January 2024. "And this time my app has changed where it shows people like you, so it's very flattering ... but I don't know who anyone is, and it just feels scary to go out with a stranger." Appearing on a January 2021episode of SiriusXM'sAndy Cohen Live,Chrissy Metzopened up about joining Bumble — where she soon matched with hernow-ex-boyfriend Bradley Collins— at the start of the pandemic. After deciding to hunker down in Nashville early on in the pandemic, she said she felt "kind of bored" and decided to "try the old Bumble." "I love the idea that, like, the woman gets to take the first step. I think that's so cool, I love that," the formerThis Is Usstar said of eventually connecting with Collins. "And yeah, I mean of course you got to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a Prince." Speaking with Chrissy Metz on his SiriusXM show about her luck with Bumble, Andy Cohen revealed that he was technically on Tinder — although he doesn't use it much. "I'm on Tinder. I never check it, but I'm on Tinder," he told Metz, adding that he's "been kicked off Tinderfor people saying I was impersonating me." Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty During a November 2020episode of theEx Appealpodcast,Luann de Lessepssaid she met trainerGarth Wakefordon a dating app, withher initial reaction to his photobeing, "He's too good to be true." When they met for coffee,The Real Housewives of New Yorkstar was delighted to find out he was the real deal: "He's tall, he's handsome, he looks like a Viking." Sinceher 2017 divorce, de Lesseps has kept things casual and turned to apps during the pandemic to keep meeting people. "My niece got me on Hinge and then got me on Raya, so I've been kind of flirting on some dating apps," she shared. "It's so much fun to date, but with COVID, it's hard to date, so I feel like flirting is the next best thing." Even now, Lesseps isstill open to finding love, ideally someone who hits that "sweet spot" of being "age appropriate [and] who's got a career." As she put it on a January 2024episode ofTamron Hall: "I love men and I like to date and I like to flirt and I think there's nothing wrong with that. I'm living my best life in my 50s, that's all I've got to say." Neilson Barnard/Getty In 2018, Kiernan Shipkaacknowledged toStylistthat dating as a former child star isn't easy, but she's figured out a solution: "Raya for life. Love it. God bless Raya." However, the actress has largely kept the details of her love life to herself. "I've always had a healthy relationship with dating, but I've spent so much of my life in the public eye in one way or another, I've figured out that I need to set a boundary for myself and not talk about it," shetoldCosmopolitanin December 2024. Phillip Faraone/Getty Before she went public with stand-up comedianMike Wrightin 2022,Lizzodabbled in online dating ... with mixed results. "I've done Raya. I tried to match withJohn Mayer— it didn't work," the singer said during her 2019 visit toBusy Tonight. According to Lizzo, the celeb-based app is "boring," and romance hopefuls are more likely to find success on less restrictive platforms. So, she tried a different route. "My dancer wanted to have a hoe phase, so I decided to join her, and I went on one of the, you know, lower-echelon dating apps," she said. "No shade, but you don't have to get confirmed. ... So I hopped on it and I had a hoe phase for like a week and it was really fun." Before meeting wifeRamona Agruma, theSenior Yearactress revealed to PEOPLE shestruggled with how to label herselfwhen setting up her dating app profiles. "I remember you had to tick a box saying 'Are you interested in men? Are you interested in women?' And they were the two options. It felt really weird," she said. "I haven't looked at every single [app], but the big ones we looked at, you still had to categorize yourself, and I just think there was a real gap in the dating app market because I think the existing ones skew older maybe or don't take into account this kind of movement of sexual fluidity." Spotting that gap, Wilson helped create Fluid — a dating app (no longer active) built for users who didn't "have to actually define [themselves] or check a box to say 'I'm straight, I'm gay, I'm bisexual.' " Dave Benett/Getty "No offense to people who go on Tinder, but I just feel like it's ruining romance, I really do,"Sam Smithtold the U.K.'sMetroin 2014. "We're losing the art of conversation and being able to go and speak to people, and you're swiping people." That's not to say the singer is opposed to all dating apps! Smith shared thatthey got kicked off the dating app Hingealmost immediately: "They chucked me off of it after one night cause they thought I was a catfish pretending to be me." "I started Internet dating in 2000. So I have been online dating, [using] dating apps for over 20 years," she said. "Because what I learned dating on being on dating apps on and off for years ... is that after a certain point, I was vibrating on a different level. And the f--- boys, they couldn't hear the frequency." She added, "There's just certain things that became unacceptable in those first few messages." Presley Ann/Getty During an April 2017 appearanceonThe Ellen DeGeneres Show,Charlize Theronrevealed that her friendChelsea Handlerhad introduced her to the wild world of online dating. "She was on her phone, and she showed it to me and she was explaining it to me in that Chelsea Handler way, which is just like, 'Yeah, everybody's doing this. What's wrong with you? Where have you been, under a rock?' " Theron said. She continued, "So then I took real interest, and I was like, 'Okay, well tell me, how does it work?' And she's swiping all these faces of guys in all different sorts of — I'm going to sound like I'm 80. But they're in all sorts of different variations of no clothes, and then they know that you've just said, 'No, I don't like you.' " Even with the intro lesson, Theron isn't convinced that dating apps are for her. "And then you have to text them, and then the flirting starts. And it's kind of awkward because you don't know the person, and they're trying to be cute and they say weird things like, 'What's up, sexy?' And it's just awkward. This is why I'm still single. I just like a good old friend hooking you up, or, I don't know, introducing you. I'm so old school." "It kind of started out to be a joke with my girlfriends. I was like, 'Explain this whole thing to me because it's kind of blowing my mind,'" she told PEOPLE in May 2015. "In my life, I've always had really serious boyfriends, I've always met people through work, and I've never been on a blind date."
