Media Capital Technologies, an entertainment investment company, has launched Row K Entertainment, a new U.S. theatrical distribution label. The new company says it will be focused on distributing wide release, star-driven movies from prestigious directors that have global appeal. Row K has also enlisted Megan Colligan, former president of Imax Entertainment and president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Paramount Pictures, to serve as its president. She brings an enviable list of relationships with talent. Row K will be headquartered in West Hollywood and will round out its full executive team in the coming months. It will make its debut at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, where it will be on the hunt for films to acquire and release in North America. The company is hoping to distribute up to 10 films annually, with plans to scale up over the next several years. Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh serve as principals of both MCT and Row K. "Christopher and Raj share a mindset that there is a more efficient way to build a modern studio. Row K is built for a world where creation, consumption, and connection happen simultaneously across all channels," said Colligan in a statement. "We are energized by the opportunity to serve films, filmmakers, and audiences in a new way while focusing especially on the theatrical experience." Row K will primarily focus on wide theatrical releases, while employing a range of bespoke distribution strategies on a title-by-title basis. It will acquire finished films as well as finance and produce its own slate. The name, Row K, is a reference to the best row to watch a film within a theater. "There's an underserved demand in the distribution market for high-quality, commercial content supported by an efficient, targeted marketing strategy. Between the tentpole budget levels of major studios and the limited reach of boutique players, Row K was built to fill this void," said Woodrow and Singh in a statement. "MCT's seasoned management team brings decades of financing expertise and a strong industry network, giving Row K the resources and flexibility to deliver at scale. Equally important, it's a model built with artists in mind – offering transparency, creative alignment, and long-term value for both filmmakers and audiences. We're thrilled to welcome Megan Colligan to lead this vision and drive Row K's growth." CAA Media Finance, which helped come up with the idea for Row K, serves as an advisory partner to the company. MCT and Row K are both represented by CAA. MCT has been Lionsgate's primary slate co-financing partner since 2023 and has invested in over 20 films with the studio, including "Saw X," "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," "Flight Risk" and the "John Wick" spinoff "Ballerina." Upcoming titles include "The Long Walk," "Good Fortune" and "The Housemaid." In March, MCT partnered with filmmaker Eli Roth to launch The Horror Section, a media company focused on building out a library of horror films. Roth's "Ice Cream Man" is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in 2026.
