Since the HBO Max medical dramaThe Pittpremiered in early 2025, fans have been wondering if moreERalums will film for the series. While speaking toVarietyin August 2025,Noah Wyle, who is an executive producer and star onThe Pitt, said it's possible his formerERcastmates could film for future episodes of the series, which takes place in a Pittsburgh hospital, as reported byTV Insider.Wyle said he'd "never say never" to reuniting with hisERco-stars while filmingThe Pitt. However, the actor does worry that it could be distracting for audiences. "The success of this show has brought to our awareness that there's some really high-profile actors that would love to come on our show, and it's super tempting to want to go after them, but you run the risk of it being a little distracting," said Wyle, who plays Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch inThe Pitt. He also said that he trustedThe Pitt's casting director, Cathy Sandrich, with deciding which actors are best suited for the series. "One of the great things about Cathy Sandrich, our casting director, is she brings in these people that you may know that work, but you don't necessarily bring their intended baggage to the role that they're playing for us; you're able to believe them totally in the situation that we're presenting," said Wyle during the Variety interview. "I feel like that's a model that's worth playing out as long as we can. [But] if there's a role that requires somebody that has some real gravitas, that requires bringing somebody that would have a frame of reference, that's really when it's fun to bring those people in." Several well-known actors starred onER, such asGeorge Clooney,Anthony Edwards, andJulianna Margulies, during the NBC show's run from 1994 to 2009. TV Insider also reported that the creator and showrunner ofThe Pitt, R. Scott, was anERwriter and producer. In a March 2025 interview withEntertainment Tonight, Wyle, who played Dr. John Carter in ER, said he has remained close to Clooney. In addition, he suggested he would be interested in working with Clooney, who portrayed theERcharacter, Dr. Doug Ross, again. "The chance to work together is something we always look forward to," said Wyle during the Entertainment Tonight interview. During a June 2025 interview onLate Night With Seth Meyers, Clooney congratulated Wyle, whom he described as a close friend, for the success ofThe Pitt. "I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show. And he does just a great job with it," said Clooney.
